Testing task: Navigate backwards to an expanded disclosure button in reading mode

With JAWS in reading mode, describe how JAWS behaves when performing task "Navigate to the first disclosure button in the navigation region. Note: it should be in the expanded state."

Test instructions

  1. Restore default settings for JAWS. For help, read Configuring Screen Readers for Testing.
  2. Activate the "Open test page" button below, which opens the example to test in a new window and runs a script that sets the state of the first disclosure button to expanded, and sets focus on the first link of the associated dropdown.
  3. Verify the Virtual Cursor is active by pressing Alt+Delete. If it is not, turn on the Virtual Cursor by pressing Insert+Z.
  4. Navigate to the first disclosure button in the navigation region. Note: it should be in the expanded state.
  5. Using the following commands, Navigate to the first disclosure button in the navigation region. Note: it should be in the expanded state.
    • Shift+B
    • Shift+F
    • Shift+Tab
    • Up Arrow

Success Criteria

To pass this test, JAWS needs to meet all the following assertions when each specified command is executed:

  1. Role 'button' is conveyed
  2. Name 'About' is conveyed
  3. State of the button (expanded) is conveyed
